IF YOU MISSED MATCHDAY 7, WATCH IT NOW HERE!
The final day of the regular season saw a dramatic conclusion to the first round of the eFootball™ Championship Pro. Today's unexpected and improbable results turned the league on its head, dethroning Arsenal FC from top spot and sending AS Monaco home. The Gunners were unable to pick up a single point against an AC Milan side that achieved the Herculean feat of seizing the only chance they had to reach the quarter-finals: winning every game against the then league leaders. For their part, a lukewarm FC Barcelona lost two games against an AS Roma side that secured the safe passage. Even so, the Blaugrana regained top spot in the league and direct qualification to the semi-finals thanks to a better points tally against Manchester United in the match between the two at the start of the league. And what were Manchester United doing up there if they were in fourth place? The Red Devils also booked a direct place in the semi-finals by finishing second thanks to a full house against a struggling FC Bayern, who had to settle for fourth place. Finally, AS Monaco had to bow out of the competition despite having established a 7-point lead over AC Milan, as they only managed 3 points against an already eliminated FC Inter.
In the awards section, FCB_Jose's second goal against ACM Sasinho, scored with Tel, has been selected as Goal of the Day of the past matchday 6, awarded with a prize of €5,000.
(+6) AS ROMA - FC BARCELONA (+3)
The last matchday of the Regular League began with AS Roma - FC Barcelona. In the previous matchday, the Italians reached 23 points, jumping from sixth to fifth place, and moving away from the elimination zone by 7 points. In Matchday 7, the Romans managed to secure their place in the quarterfinals after surprising everyone by taking 6 points from FC Barcelona. The blaugranas lost top spot to the Gunners in Matchday 6, but despite taking only 3 points in the current matchday, they regained top spot due to obtaining more points in the direct clash with second-placed Manchester United.
GAME 1: ASR_Gagliardo28 2 - 1 The Palma
Italian ASR_Gagliardo28 went into the last league game with no wins and only 2 goals scored. Last matchday he drew 0-0 with EL_Matador, extending the number of draws so far to 3. For his part, the blaugrana captain, with the same number of draws, had at least one win so far.
The game started with an early goal from The Palma in the 4th minute with Pedri scoring after a great ball behind the back of the opposing defence from Sergi Busquets. Despite the early blow, ASR_Gagliardo28 didn't give up and tried to take possession and attack the rival goal. In the second half, in the 60th minute, the Italian equalised with Zalewski and continued to look for the win until the end. To everyone's surprise, from a corner, the Romans scored the winning goal thanks to a tremendous header from Belotti and in this way ASR_Gagliardo28 got his first victory of the season.
GAME 2: ASR_STIFFLER 1 - 0 Ettorito97
After the setback suffered in the first game, multi-time champion Ettorito97 had the responsibility of securing at least 3 points for the Catalans if they did not want to risk losing second place in the league. However, surprises were still to come on the Roman side when ASR_STIFFLER took the lead in the 31st minute through Belotti, again from a corner. Ettorito97 seemed not to be settling into the game and in the second half, after 70 minutes, the Italian could well have scored the second but missed in front of the goalkeeper. However, the Romans held on to the result until the end and forced the first defeat of the so far unbeaten Ettorito97, who also lost the lead of the Top Scorer’s table in favor of Usmakabyle.
GAME 3: ASR_URMA43 2 - 3 Alex Alguacil
With 6 points gained so far, AS Roma had already pulled off a surprise that could still increase if the Romans were to get a clean sweep of wins, but Alex Alguacil was ready to defend the only 3 points that Barça would take home this matchday. The game kicked off with an early goal from Alguacil in the 7th minute with Dembélé seeming to put the Culer team back on track. In stoppage time before the break, Spain's Alguacil extended the lead with a brace from Dembélé, but the game was not over for Alguacil. On the return from the break, in the 50th minute, the Roman captain closed the gap with Zalewski and increased the pressure on the Catalans. But Alguacil was not to be beaten and in the 70th minute, after a corner, the third goal for the blaugranas came with a great header into the top corner by F. De Jong. Once again, it is surprising how difficult it is for FC Barcelona to close games with a big lead, as in the 83rd minute, ASR_URM43 would once again shorten the gap with a goal from Dybala's Epic: Big Time card, making the last 10 minutes of the match a real torment for Alguacil. However, the Spaniard held on for the only three points of the day for FC Barcelona, who risked losing second place if FC Bayern or Manchester United were to pick up enough points to overtake them in the final match of the day. For their part, a happy AS Roma would finish in fifth place, advancing to the quarterfinals where they will face Manchester United on Saturday June 24th.
(+3) AS MONACO - FC INTER (+3)
Sixth and last placed faced each other in the second match of the day to finish in the same spots as those in which they began the day. The Nerazzurri were already out of mathematical qualification chances after picking up just one point against AS Roma, so they were not expected to put up much resistance against an AS Monaco side that needed points to secure a place in the quarterfinals, but the nerazurri did and the fixture went to have a rare 3 draws, all of them with a 2-2 result. FC Inter bowed out of the competition with a total of 10 points and 55 goals conceded, while AS Monaco would later discover that they were also out of the competition after AC Milan's improbable full house against Arsenal FC.
The young Zilo was coming off the back of a tight 2-2 draw against Lotfi last matchday and was looking to get the first three points for the Monegasques by beating the FC Inter captain who was already out of contention, but it would be no easy task as the German was the fifth highest scorer in the league with 12 goals despite not having won a single match.
The young Polish player started like a rocket scoring two goals in 14 minutes, but MeroMen was able to recover the deficit established with two goals in the 21st and 43rd minute, both with the Epic: Big Time card of Lautaro Martinez. The second half was not as spectacular as the first in terms of goals. Both players were pushing for the win until the end, but finally the points were shared by both and each club took 1 point.
GAME 2: Usmakabyle 2 - 2 MeroMen
The top scorer so far this season picked up his first draw of the season against a MeroMen who looked strong and well positioned on the pitch. The Turkish started by scoring in the 10th minute, but the French champion struck back in the 29th minute, and then he pulled one back in the 42nd minute with Golovin. The game was not over, however, as MeroMen continued to prove their goalscoring efficiency by scoring a 2-2 equalizer in the 63rd minute through Edin Džeko. In the closing minutes, the Nerazzurri captain put Usmakabyle on the ropes and could have scored the third on several occasions, but the match eventually ended 2-2 and both teams had their second draw of the day.
GAME 3: Kams10_ 2 - 2 ArdaGolaaazooo
After two draws and two points shared by each team, FC Inter wanted to say goodbye to the competition with a win, while AS Monaco wanted to win to avoid leaving themselves open to lose the qualification to AC Milan. The promising young Turkish took the lead in the 30th minute with a great goal from the Epic: Big Time card of Lautaro Martinez and just 7 minutes later Kams10_ brought the scores level again with a goal from Ben Yedder in his Epic: Big Time version. In the second half, with the match tremendously tied, ArdaGolaaazooo managed to score the lead with Correa in the 67th minute, holding on the 1-2 result until practically the end of the game when, in the last breath of the match, the French Kams10_ managed to score the final 2-2 draw and sink the hopes of a victory to say goodbye from the Nerazzurri.
(+0) ARSENAL FC - AC MILAN (+9)
The Gunners snatched top spot from FC Barcelona last matchday after taking six points out of nine from the blaugranas in direct confrontation. Now, the Londoners were looking to keep that top spot to start the KO Stage from the semifinals, especially after FC Barcelona only managed to take 3 points from the giallorossi. For their part, AC Milan was in a very difficult situation in the elimination zone, seven points behind their closest place leading to the quarterfinals, set by AS Monaco in sixth place, but the rossoneri managed to achieve the quarterfinals by achieving one of the most epic feats in all of eFootball's seasons in living memory. Against all odds, they won all 3 matches against the leaders at the time, Arsenal FC, the only chance they had of progressing to the finals. For their part, Arsenal FC missed out on the chance to regain top spot and it was later discovered that their 0 points from this matchday would also see them lose second place to Manchester United in an unlikely sequence of events.
GAME 1: Ostrybuch 0 - 2 ACM Naples17x
Ostrybuch came from an important victory against Alex Alguacil last matchday and now faced the Rossoneri captain ACM Naples17x who had lost 3-1 against Mucahit21 last matchday. On this occasion, il capitano was able to control the game and the tempo of the match well, reaching half-time with a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal scored in the 36th minute by Giroud. After the break, in the 48th minute, ACM Naples17x scored a brace with Giroud to put the game to bed and seal a 2-0 victory over Ostrybuch who, although he had the chance to close the gap, did not have his day today.
GAME 2: INDOMINATOR 1 - 2 FRANKINO
The Gunner captain came into the final match having suffered a 2-0 defeat against Ettorito97. The Dutchman, one of the top passers in the competition, tried to break down the new MVP and Coppa eFootball Italia champion FRANKINO, who made his debut last matchday with a 1-1 draw against FCB_Mestre. The match was tremendously frenetic, starting with INDOMINATOR's goal in the 22nd minute, but the game would take an unexpected turn in the second half after young FRANKINO pulled one back in the 45th and 56th minute with Leao and De Ketelaere respectively. In the last minute INDOMINATOR had the chance to equalise but hit the post and with that stroke of luck AC Milan achieved the tremendous feat of winning two games against the league leaders earlier in the day, putting the Gunners in trouble to regain the lead and bringing the Rossoneri's chances of qualification closer as they now needed a third win to achieve the epic.
GAME 3: Roksa22 1 - 4 ACM Sasinho
ACM Sasinho had on his shoulders the rossoneri's chances of seeing themselves in the quarterfinals on June 24th. For his part, Roksa22 was obliged to get a win if he wanted his team to regain the lead and ensure direct passage to the semifinals by staying in the Top 2. And what a match both players gave us. ACM Sasinho took the lead in the 7th minute with an amazing goal by Rebic and Roksa22 responded with an equaliser in the 20th minute by Trossard. But the Matchday 1 Goal of the Day winner still had an ace up his sleeve and took the lead again in the 36th minute, but the best was yet to come in the second half. The Milanese rounded off the feat of making it a clean sweep versus the unbeatable Gunners thanks to ACM Sasinho closing out the game by scoring the third goal with the Epic: Big Time card of Leao in the 58th minute and the fourth with Origi in the 69th minute. With such an epic performance, AC Milan booked their place in the quarterfinals as the sixth-placed team, having to face Arsenal FC again in what could be a thrilling reunion between the two sides.
(+0) FC BAYERN MÜNCHEN - MANCHESTER UNITED (+9)
The last match of the Regular League pitted two of the competition's historical teams in an evenly matched situation. The Germans were in third place with 32 points and the chance of finishing as league leaders if they win all their games, after FC Barcelona only got 3 points and Arsenal FC none. On the other side, a fourth-placed Manchester United, just 3 points behind their rivals FC Bayern were 8 points away from the Top 2, so they needed a clean sweep as well if they wanted to pass directly into the semifinals, and once again we witnessed another epic achievement with Manchester United winning the entire match, securing a place in the semi-finals despite having started the day in fourth place.
GAME 1: FCB_Mestre 0 - 2 Lotfi
The match between the Spaniard and the Red Devils' captain left us with a first meeting full of tension due to the importance of what was at stake. Last season they met in the semi-finals with Lotfi winning 2-1, although FC Bayern would go on to reach the final. This time, Lotfi started the game by scoring early on, but the goal was disallowed for being offside. Shortly afterwards, however, the French player proved that the precious chance was not just a warning but proof that he was more comfortable on the pitch than FCB_Mestre. Thus, in the 42nd minute, Lotfi opened the scoring with a good goal from Sabitzer and in the second half, in the 60th minute, he scored the second with Martial. The FC Bayern player tried to get close to the goal at some point but Lotfi managed to keep the result until the end and give the first three points to the Manchester side.
Turkey's Mucahit21 was in charge of securing all three points for his team and moving them back into third place, which at the start of the game was in the hands of Manchester United due to a better goal difference. For their part, Nekza had just beaten Kams10_ last time out and would add another win in this one after beating Mucahit21 whom he had already beaten 2-0 last year in the Quarter Final between Nekza's then team AS Monaco and Galatasaray SK, Mucahit21's former team.
The match started very evenly, with chances for both players but nothing clear-cut to suggest that the balance could go either way. With the score at half-time at 0-0, the game got interesting for the second half. Nekza scored the only goal of the game in the 67th minute with Marcus Rashford's Epic: Big Time card, although the goal came with controversy due to a possible foul not called in favor of FC Bayern. Despite the controversy, the six points added to Manchester United's haul to secure third place and attempt to take on top two Arsenal FC in the final game of the regular season.
GAME 3: FCB_Jose 1 - 2 Kilzyou
Two of the competition's heavyweights went head to head. The German captain was up against Frenchman Kilzyou for the last three points of the season. FC Bayern could no longer climb any higher than fourth place no matter what FCB_Jose did, but the Red Devils could still reach second place if they won the third match. And so it happened. Kilzyou showed his talent to reduce the chances of the always solid and tough FCB_Jose and secured the victory by scoring with Sabitzer in the 35th minute and Marcus Rashford in the 44th minute. FCB_Jose closed the gap in the second half with a goal from Sané in the 79th minute, but the lead established by the Frenchman held until the end and the match ended 1-2. Manchester United's win took them into second place and earned them a direct passage to the semifinals.
